This park has a wonderful history and is currently home to some of the area's destination facilities including the Elgin Public Museum, the Lords Park Zoo, the historic Pavilion and the Lord's Park Aquatic Center.

Lords Park Pavilion. LORD'S PARK PAVILION. HISTORIC SIGNIFICANCE. This magnificent building has seen its share of wedding receptions, public gatherings and civic events but its own history is a bit exciting as well. What you see is actually the second pavilion built here. The first was constructed in 1896 and '97.

The park we enjoy today has undergone many changes since its inception in the late 1800s. The original pavilion burned to the ground on September 30, 1897 and was replaced with the larger building known today as the Lords Park Pavilion. The bear cages were filled in and graded to the level of Willow Creek in 1969 and the eagles are gone.
